A brief security lockdown was imposed at the White House on Tuesday after someone threw a mobile phone over the North Lawn fence, prompting swift action from the U.S. Secret Service.

The incident occurred around midday, triggering a temporary closure of Pennsylvania Avenue and the evacuation of press personnel to the James S. Brady Briefing Room. Secret Service agents quickly secured the area in response to the object being hurled onto the White House grounds.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed, “Somebody threw their phone over the fence,” which led to the emergency measures.

By 11:56 am, the lockdown was lifted, and reporters were allowed back onto the North Lawn. Normal activity resumed shortly afterward, with the press gathering in the Palm Room for President Donald Trump’s scheduled departure to an event in Pennsylvania.

While no official statement has yet been released regarding the breach, the incident adds to a series of recent security lapses at the White House. In a similar event earlier this year, a young boy managed to slip past barriers, raising further concerns about perimeter security.

Despite Tuesday’s disruption, President Trump’s schedule remained unaffected, and his Pennsylvania engagement proceeded as planned.
